When our clients first welcomed us into their home, their main gripe was the "bowling alley effect" that troubled their living room. Their floor plan was a bit of a puzzle, but they had a dream: to infuse their condo with the carefree elegance of a beach house. Envisioning a palette of soothing blues, crisp whites, and natural wood tones, their ultimate goal was to create a space perfect for socializing and entertaining.
Faced with these challenges and aspirations, April and I couldn't wait to craft a well-thought-out plan. We opted for a sectional sofa swathed in Crypton fabric—an excellent match that marries style with durability. This material ensures that accidental spills won't become permanent memories, allowing for an off-white hue that radiates warmth and sophistication.
Tackling the tricky floor plan became an exciting endeavor rather than an insurmountable obstacle. We designed a chic corner banquette that offers additional seating and houses clever built-in storage beneath. I chose a serene blue-tone faux wall finish for this nook, already envisioning how it would play off a contrasting white-background art piece to make the corner truly eye-catching. To address the dining area, we selected a versatile table that could expand to comfortably seat eight guests—a lifesaver for holiday feasts or dinner parties. The sectional was a non-negotiable, and by positioning it just so, we made the entire living space feel more expansive.

Marya's Tips for Successful Design:
The sectional was a non-negotiable, and by positioning it just so, we made the entire living space feel more expansive. The icing on the cake came when I discovered Riverside's bar table with matching stools. Tucked behind the sectional, it serves as a secondary hub for guests, making the room ideal for larger gatherings.
We designed a slender, custom bar cabinet to banish the "bowling alley" ambiance. It provides extra storage and subtly partitions the space to create a more harmonious flow. Layered wall treatments, framed by white moldings, set the stage for a calming beach-inspired oil painting. I added a pair of candle sconces to complete the look, infusing the room with a soft, inviting glow.
So there you have it—a transformed living area that can comfortably host 11 guests and a dining space for eight, all while echoing the relaxed luxury of a beachside retreat.
